Our conference brings together architectural designers, architects, and professionals from across the architectural and construction sectors for two inspiring days of connection, kōrero (conversation), and celebration – marking a very special milestone year as an organisation as we celebrate 60 years of excellence in design and industry leadership.
Featuring some of our industry's innovators and trailblazers, the programme is design and inspiration-packed to highlight our theme – People. Story. Place… by Design. Be prepared to be challenged and inspired by our incredible lineup of speakers.
Beyond the programme itself, our conference is known for its exceptional networking opportunities. The Wednesday Mix and Mingle kicks things off, followed by the Themed Birthday Party on Thursday— both events fostering a strong sense of collegiality ADNZ is known for.
The week culminates with the prestigious ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Awards gala dinner, an evening celebrating Aotearoa’s design excellence and recognising the 2026 national and supreme award winners.

Conference Programme
Design begins and ends with people. Every place carries a narrative, and place is where people and story meet. Nothing about our future is accidental.
This year’s conference explores the powerful connection between people, story, and the places we create.
Drawing on Aotearoa’s rich design perspectives and international influences, we share insights and experience, celebrate innovation, and imagine the possibilities of design - from intergenerational Pasifika living, to local neighbourhoods and global cities, from traditional construction methodologies to design thinking, pushing the boundaries and high-tech innovation.
Together, we’ll explore how thoughtful purpose-driven design connects people to place and story - intentionally, creatively and by design – ensuring that our architecture continues to influence a better future for all.

Join leading voices from architecture, sustainability, kaupapa Māori and Pasifika design, economics, and beyond as they share insights shaping the future of the built environment. Through thought-provoking conversations, real-world projects, and contemporary design thinking, this year’s conference explores the ideas, challenges, and opportunities through the connection between people, story, and the places we create.

Join us for a tour of the University of Auckland’s award-winning and world class buildings. The tour will cover a selection of heritage, cultural, and contemporary architecture – a not-to-be missed opportunity!
The Architectural Tour is also open to the public and tickets can be purchased separately, without registering for the conference.
